Supplies:
  • Rit All-Purpose Dye in Sunshine Orange, Purple, Neon Green, Black
  • (4) Unfinished Wood Houses in various sizes
  • Googly Eyes
  • Plastic Spiders
  • Spider Web
  • Large container for dyeing
  • Hot Glue Gun and Sticks
  • Measuring Cup and Spoon
  • Paper Towels
  • Tongs
  • Rubber Gloves

Time: 1 hour

Difficulty: Beginner

  1. Before dyeing, rinse wood pieces in cool water. This helps to remove any finishes that may interfere with dye absorption.
  2. Add a ½ cup of Tangerine All-Purpose dye into a large container with hot water and stir to mix.
  3. Place damp wooden house into dyebath. The woode pieces will want to float so keep it submerged using tongs.
  4. Once desired color is achieved, remove from dyebath and rinse in cool water. Allow it to air dry completely.
  5. Repeat Steps 1-4 to dye remaining wooden houses with additional colors.
  6. Once completely dry, use hot glue gun to adhere googly eyes, spider webs and plastic spiders as desired.
