Rainbow Spider Web

Rainbow Spider Web

Who says spooky can’t be colourful? This DIY spider web uses cotton rope dyed in a full rainbow spectrum to turn a classic Halloween motif into a bright, bold statement.

Supplies
  • Rit Dye All-Purpose Liquid Dye in Petal Pink, Sunshine Orange, Golden Yellow, Truly Green, Royal Blue,
  • 100% Cotton Webs
  • Cooling Rack + Baking Tray
  • Squeeze Bottles

Time: 1 hour

Difficulty: Intermediate

Gather supplies and cover work area.

Wet the spider web with hot water and arrange on the cooling rack (with the baking tray underneath).

In your squeeze bottle, add hot water and around a tablespoon of Rit Dye. Shake to combine.

Apply your dyes onto the spider web over the baking tray to catch any drips. Work your way through the rainbow of colors.

Let the dye sit on the web for at least 12 hours.

Rinse in cold water, one section at a time to avoid any dye running.

Let dry then display.

The process is the same for the muslin webbing as well! You might just need a larger work surface. I dyed mine outside in the grass and left on a trashbag over night for the color to sink in.
